Meeting a Force of Nature: Lessons from Ambassador Georgette Mosbacher
Sometimes you meet someone whose presence instantly makes you sit up a little straighter, listen a little closer, and think a little bigger.
That’s exactly how I felt when I had the opportunity to meet Ambassador to Poland, Georgette Mosbacher.
From the moment she began speaking, I found myself completely captivated. Her presence was electric — full of life, humor, sharp wit, and the kind of confidence that comes from truly believing in your own vision. The type of person whose energy is so strong it almost challenges you to rise to the same level.
And when you learn about her background, it becomes even more impressive. Georgette Mosbacher served as the United States Ambassador to Poland and has built an extraordinary career as a business leader and entrepreneur. She was the CEO of the luxury cosmetics brand Borghese and turned the company into a global success. Over the years she has authored books, advised leaders, and become one of the most influential businesswomen and philanthropists in the United States. Her journey from business to diplomacy is a remarkable example of what determination, preparation, and vision can create.
One thing she said really stayed with me. She shared that she always feels equal to anyone she meets — no matter who they are — because she is always prepared and she will not allow to be ignored! That mindset alone says so much about how powerful preparation and confidence can be.
Her motto was simple but powerful: Dream big. Have confidence. And don’t be shy about wanting success.
She spoke about the importance of believing in your dreams, fighting for what you want, and pushing forward until you reach the other side — even when the path looks uncertain. Success rarely arrives by accident. It comes from determination, resilience, and the courage to keep going even when things feel difficult.
And then came my favorite moment of the evening — when she casually mentioned that she had cloned her dog because she is her favorite companion.
Only Georgette Mosbacher could deliver powerful life advice about ambition and resilience and then follow it up with a story about cloning your best friend.
It was a perfect reminder that strong, successful women can be incredibly driven and accomplished, yet still grounded, authentic, and full of humor.
I left that conversation feeling inspired, energized, and reminded that sometimes the most important thing we can do is simply give ourselves permission to think bigger.
Because as she so perfectly put it — if you want something badly enough, you fight for it and find your way to the other side.
