A Rainy 7AM Networking Morning at the Cornell Club
When the World Was Still Asleep, I Found Something Awake in Me
There’s a strange kind of magic in being up before New York is. At 6AM, the city isn’t roaring — it’s whispering. And this morning, in the cold rain, it whispered, “Don’t do it… stay in bed.”
But something in me knew better.
Somewhere between stubbornness and caffeine, I dragged myself into the dark and made my way to the Cornell Club — the place where BNI Chapter One gathers every Wednesday at 7AM with the focus of people who’ve discovered a secret most of the world sleeps through.
The moment I stepped inside, the day shifted.
Gone were the rain, the cold, the internal protests. I walked into a room buzzing with ambition, clarity, and the kind of energy that makes you forget you were half-asleep 20 minutes earlier.
What impressed me most wasn’t just the professionalism — it was the purpose. These were people who choose to rise early not out of obligation, but out of intention and gratitude. People who understand that the early hours carry a different weight. A different opportunity. A different momentum.
Lawyers, accountants, creatives, wellness experts, real estate pros, nonprofit founders — all gathered with one mission: show up, share generously, and help each other grow.
It was community in motion.
Collaboration at sunrise.
A reminder that success isn’t only about working hard — it’s about working alongside people who elevate you.
By the time the meeting ended, the rain didn’t feel as heavy, and neither did the day ahead. I walked out inspired, energized, and honestly amazed at how much can happen before most people even open their eyes.
And that’s the beauty of mornings like this:
When you choose to show up early, life shows up for you in return.
Yes, I’ll be back next Wednesday.
Some doors only open for those willing to rise early enough to walk through them.
